All About Eddie Allen Jr.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Eddie began playing bass at the age of 11. Early in his career he played mostly gospel, influenced by the likes of Joel Smith (Walter Hawkins) and Andrew Gouche (Yolanda Adams), as well as jazz/funk bassists Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Jaco Pastorius, and local contemporary Sergio Croom. After high school, he toured with various gospel groups in the Atlanta area, most notably Robert Griffin’s Crusaders for Christ, the Atlanta Soul Saviors, and the Jackson Twinz. He also participated in the Atlanta Symphony with Sally Parish and vocal group Sound of the Spirit from Clark College (Paul Settles).
After extensive work in the Atlanta gospel circuit, he joined international touring group Absence of Color (AOC), touring 11 countries throughout Europe and Asia. In between tours, he continued working on Atlanta projects, including Robert Harris, Llace Sarabete, Casey Graham, Daryl Farrie, and Jimmy "Slam" Jones.
Eddie began composing and producing several years ago while on tour, and currently has released 5 full length albums, 4 of which are available on all digital platforms. His new project is slated for release in 2024, with production, artistic and musical assistance from Nate Johnson, Terrence "T.Murf aka D.R." Murphy, Darnesha Allen, Antonio "ToNe Atlanta" Whitfield, Scharod "Danger" Jackson, Scharodrick "Preach" Jackson, Jeni Williams, Rick Rudica, Ronnie Biggs, Stephan "Pfun Pfun" Perry, and his late father David Whitfield.
He currently is bassist at both Power Action Ministries and Witness Protection Ministries in Atlanta while continuing to tour with Absence of Color, just recently completing a stint with them in Munich Germany.
